The cooling fan boot ensures that your cooling fan sucks in cool outside air from the side vents, instead of hot air from around your engine (especially when your original foam engine seal has long since turned to dust). The boot should also have a long clamp to secure it to the plastic fan guard.

This seems to be a part that previous owners keep throwing away for some reason. One of my 412s was missing it and I had to get a replacement from a trip to a VW junk yard. I have heard that there are a couple in western Penna. that specialize in Type 4 junkers. Or you could try www.uneedapart.com, a search service for junkyard parts.

I know were their are several junkers around the country for I have looked high and low for a peice of glass and found it.

I realy don't know what the thing even looks like. I found a 411-42 hayes manual on ebay maybe it will show me.

What was left of the cooked original just seemed to be a hard plastic insert inside the fan shrowd.

I sure wish I had a picture of a corectly configured engine bay with this and the heater blower installed.

I have a spare T3 boot. Used but in good condition. I dont even know what size is required to attach to the T4 engine, but at least the T3 side will fit.

Anyone have a picture of this elusive beast?
Any one try to have something made?
Someone send me one. The ETKA CD shows a drawing showing 2 differnt boots, and 2 housing and a clamp.. I know some people who can duplacate the plastic parts and the rubber part too. (so they say)
