Hey all,
I bought a 1972 Ghia conv. yesterday (YAY!!!). My little Frosch has been sitting, undriven, at the previous (and original)owner's house for about two years. I had it wreckered over here. There seems to be gas leaking from around the throttle linkage (drip....drip....drip...). Does this seem feasible? Can I tighten something up to make it stop or do I need a new carb? My theory is that some gasket has dried up and now that the car is at a new angle its leaking.

thanks,
Suz

If its coming directly out of the throttle shaft(the rod that your cable is hooked to)then its time to replace the carb..The gasket under neath the carb,if its messed up, will draw in air(bad),unless it was really messed up the gas wont really drip out of there, but there would be signs of some kind.
Good Luck,

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. Would it make sense that gas is leaking from either end of the rod that goes through the carb? (the rod with the bracket on the driver side for the throttle cable) Seems more gas is dripping on the side without the throttle cable bracket. I am about as newbie as you can get with aircooled engines and carbs for that matter. The only engine I have done extensive work on is a V6 3.8L TBI.

If I need a new carb, about how much should it set me back?

thanks,
Suz

New carb, around a $100.00 You should be able to tell if throttle shaft is leaking. They do sometimes leak from the rear side of the carb.
