Finally! After a year of saving up money and waiting for the machine work to be done my engine is finally built! It is a 1915 with dual 40 dellorto DRLA's, a vz-25 cam, 9.0:1 compression, CB Performace Supermag heads with 40x35mm stainless steel valves for 600 dollars, and an added 600 dollars worth of machine work to already ported and polished heads I now have 1200 dollar heads in my car!
=D Plus around 1300 for all brand new parts and machining, everything is balanced and lightened, only thing used is the small stud case which is in damn good condition for being 30 years old. It will be ready to go in by early next week. I havent driven my ghia for a year and a half now and have been redoing EVERYTHING. The last time i drove it, it had a tired dual port 1600, I cant wait to drive a hi-performance engine again. I will have pictures of my car completed with before and after pictures up in a few weeks.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for lots of very good and helpful advice and goodluck to all with ghia projects of their own.

ENGINE IS DONE!!!!!
044 Heads i bought already ported but only opened for 85.5 cylinders, solid rocker shafts, dual rev springs, stainless steel valves with 10 degree retainers. Then i had them opened up for 94mm cylinders, fully ported and polished, the intake manifolds were match ported to the head.
cant wait to try em!

$1200 in head alone? You're scaring me! I hope that includes everything (rockers, shafts, etc) and not just the heads and P&P.

ENGINE IS DONE!!!!!
KGhia, was that a "Good Head" deal? =) sorry, couldn't help it... Like some say, sometimes all you need is a good head job!
How's the engine running so far? what dizzy are you going to run with it?
I'm working on a 1,776cc engine, with stock valved/ported heads(by yours truly) and dual ICT's, not a crowd pleaser like yours, but something of a daily driver to me....

ENGINE IS DONE!!!!!
Im runnin a bosch 009 that ive had for years that came off my first 68 bug way back in the day (feels like it at least) with a 6500 rpm limiter in it. Yea I kinda went crazy with the heads but you cant beat the feeling of getting pushed into the seat and going from 2nd to 3rd in 2 seconds with only pressing halfway down on the gas pedal =D Only thing thats kinda annoying but is fine to deal with is the noise generated from the solid trans mounts. Engine really grabs though and runs absolutley wonderful, really worth the money i paid for it and the time i waited to make sure everything was done right.
Its funny, in my 68 bug I had a 1776 with a 110 cam, same carbs as you and the 009 im using now with stock ported heads and it was quite a crowd pleaser, chirped the tires in 2nd gear all the time and I put about 90k miles before I blew a rod, i abused that one though =(
Good luck with your motor!
