looking for help buying a doublecab....

I'm usually over on the SuperBeetles forum....but I'm going to look at a Double Cab and I'd appreciate some hints.
It's a 62 and described as "some rust". Other that the expected rot, what elements should I look for which would make the prospect of restoration beyond the average wallet/worth? Are buses/cabs known for any particular spots which are especially bad? I'm thinking frame first of all... stuff like front frame horns or such.
If the floor is rotted out, how much does that affect the integrity of the vehicle? How about accesibility to repair/patch panels?
The vehicle is partially disassembled/undergoing restoration and includes a bunch of new stuff.. I guess my first question should be something like "Why are you giving up?" Is it hopeless or lack of will?
How available are body parts for these years? Will I be able to buy aftermarket/NOS or will much of what I need be relegated to swapmeets/junkers?
Any help you can offer would be great...thank!
