Why is singleport heads better than dualport in a bus?
I had planned to convert.
(I happen to have a pair of dualport heads and a '68 with one broken singelport head.)
By the way, isn't converting nothing more than bolting the dualport heads to the engine, together with a new intake manifold?

What they are trying ot tell ya Dude, is that a bus is a brick with a drag co-eficient of 200, not a race car.

If you go to the dual port, you will have the opportunity to over carb it and as such, burn the motor up.

Busses are slow and mean't to be. Slow down and enjoy the ride Dude!

Try and keep it a single port if you can. They run cooler and therefore tend to suit vans better. When the twin port was introduced the air intakes got larger you may have noticed (well they did over here) to get more air in.

Do`nt know why but single ports are good in a bus.My last bus was a 70. Had single port to begin then I built a DP with cam carb and header set. The bus just does`nt respond to this kind of treatment. Went back to SP and was much happier.
My van now is another 70 with single port. Have gone to a lot of trouble to keep it that way. Has plenty of power and pulls well. The modifications I`ve made to it are case savers with small head studs, dog house shroud with larger late fan, and alternator. I am completely happy with this engine in this car. It just seems to be the right engine with the weight and gear ratio. Good luck. Bob Ingman

One word why the SP is better: torque.

Keep the small stock exhaust with the SP as well.

Everyone complains about 2.0L bus heads. Guess what, they were designed for max torque as well. Not drag racing as previously stated.

Plus the SP heads are stronger. Less likely to crack the heads.
