I have a Gene Berg shifter and need any information as to the best and most precise way of adjusting it. It is shifting a standard Type I transmission.
Thanks!!

Shifter Adjustment
The 2 mounting holes are oval, so start with it in the middle. If you have any problems with gears, then just slide it foward or backward as needed.
You might want to check the shift rod bushing before you install the shifter. Simply grab the end and if there should be no up/down or side/side movement. If there is, it's time to change it.

Shifter Adjustment
Thanks for the reply.
The bushing is new. When the holes on the shifter are centered should the shifter be in neutral,in 2nd??? I have adjusted it several times but after awhile it tends to not want to downshift into second without grrrrinding . . . then it progressivly gets worse, I then have to re-adjust.
1.) I was hoping for some magic "spot" that I can line-up with "something or other".
2.)Is there something to look for as far as wear on the shifter plate, OR perhaps something else that I need to look at???
