Until I have the money to buy a set of idf44's should I use my kinda funky progressive (off of a pinto) or my almost new pict34 that I put on my 1641cc... which will I get better performance and most important fuel economy I never really had good fuel economy with the progressive... If the pict how should I jet it?
here are my motor specs: engle W160 cam, FI big valve head shaved down 3 fins, Welded 69 CW crank, 009 w/ pertronix, 1 5/8" header w/warlock muffler, holley blue pump and reg... that's the basic stuff....
thanks,
matt

The progressive will give you better fuel economy and significantly more pep, IF and this is a big IF, it is setup correctly, it can even take a professional quite a bit of time to get a progressive carb running at its best, so have someone who knows how do it for you, if you want to do it all yourself, stick with the solex. Granted you will honestly not understand how this motor runs till you get the duels, trust me, I had an 1835 with a pict-34 once!

Go with the Prog if you have the time.
It should not chew more juice than a Pict!
Yep it take a while to get them set right and i find you need to rejet for summer/winter but i am happy with performance.
What jets are you running in it now?

Here is how the carb is jetted: same jetting off of the pinto I guess.:
Air: 185/195
Main: 132/137
idle: 55

Matt
That "seems" ok.
I would run a richer mains say 140& 145 but how hoes it go around corners - you can drive out smoothly?
What mileage are you getting?

It's very smooth., not herky jerky at all, just fuel economy is really bad.
I mean I haven't calculated it but my tanks seems to go dry rather quickly.
Also I can't get the linkage working right. I have the aircooled.net style linkage but I have never been able to get the secondary to fully open with out the help of a mini zip-tie on enguaging arm.
