Took my '63 to the shop to look for rust... Once it was up on the stands we found rust in the right rear pan, the left heater chanel , the left rear quarter panel( near the rusted heater chanel) and more importantly up at the frame head the "chassis support panel" is shot I need advice on what to do. I have already odered a pan half for the right rear and have ordred a panel to weld into the left rear quarter. My idea is to clear out all the rust on the heater chanels and weld in new metal, then fiberglass over this (the chanel is not totaly rusted out, the top is still in good shape). Any thoughts or suggestions would be much apriciated. Also anyone know any clubs oe air cooled shop in the philly area?

Hold on a moment. Let's do a little feasibility study. If you do everything you need to do to make the frame right, how much will you have spent? And then how much again in two years? $500?
For $500 plus shipping you can get a brand new chassis. The whole thing, and be done with it.

Well said... Rust is just like Cancer.. either totaly eliminate it.. Serious work, prolly far more than you currently imagine, or live with it, then buy a new car. Sticking on poorly made replacement pieces and gooping Fiberglass on the resulting mess is just a waste of work/time.
Rust free OEM replacements are the only real solution.

Unfortunatly I do not have the time or $ to do a proper job of this. I need this car to be drivable in a few weeks so it seems my only option is to cut out, replace and treat all the rust. Was just wondering if you had any suggestions on how to do that the best I can. Eventualy in a few years I would like to do a pan off resto but for now this will have to do.
