one piece windows - again

I decided to go with a 1 piece window for my '57. Aircooled.net sells a "kit". Has anyone tried it? On their web site they recommend using a Audi 5000 rear window scissor mechanism (needs minor modification: motor, not manual, only available up to '83). Has anyone tried this? If not, what are you using, and what would you recommend. I've read most of the adds for aftermarket (power) kits (Watsons, Autoloc, etc.)but don't know anyone who has used any of these kits. Any opinions on these? Are there any manual conversions that I should consider? TIA

My personal opinion on 1 piece....don't bother, I have yet to see a kit that fits nice or closes nice.Stick with stock, you'll be happier.

WELL I DISAGREE I HAD AN OLD EMPI KIT SITTING IN MY GARAGE FOR 5 OR 6 YEARS AND IT FITS PERFECT...BUT THE NEW KITS LIKE TO SHATTER OR MAKE A LOT OF RATTLE. USE THE REGULATORS OUT OF A '67 BUG THOSE WORK PERFECT AND YOU ONLY HAVE TO DRILL 3 LITTLE 3/8" HOLES P.S. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE A NEW KIT (I RECOMEND FINDING AN OLD EMPI KIT AT THE SWAP)THERES A LITTLE "NUB" ON THE BACK OF THE REGULATOR HEAD THE EITHER NEEDS A PIECE OF FELT TAPE OR GLUE A PIECE OF FABRICK TO IT (THE REGULATOR) OR ITLL RATTLE FOREVER.WELL GOOD LUCK!!!!
