White. The lighter the color the better at hiding bad bodywork.

Tan works good too. It will also hide dirt and road grime.

I'd say white, I hadn't thought of tan .. good idea. My '74 single cab is white, and I like it .. it makes for a clean car.

a light color does not always work.
white and tan are good!, but silver is NOT!
Iam finishing a paint job on a bug , (silver) and I had to block sand it for black for it to look good, and boy it does!
non metallic light paint is best for hiding dings and scratches.
pale yellow is good too.
baby blue, pink.

Hi Vw1303sb,
A lousy paint job will hide alot of dents and dings. A great paint job of any color will show everything. Body work first and then the paint. Say it 50 times. You will be glad you did.

How about flat black?
Doug, Paint and looks are not that important to me. I will do some body work as far as sanding and stuff like that but I won't spend countless hours trying to get my body in perfect condition. I would rather spend the time building an engine. Also I don't want to invest alot of money into paint, I could spend a grand and get a good paint job or I could by a set of good heads for $800 and some carpet for 50$. Then spend the remaining $150 on some sand paper and ten cans of White or flat black spray paint. Pound out some dented fenders, through or some bondo, And let the aerosol do the rest.
If I pulled up to a light with a bad ass paint job and a 1600dp and there was a guy in a riced out Honda, he would assume that my car would be fast but it isn't because I spent all my money on paint.
Then, if I pulled up with my $100 paint job and tried to race this guy he would think I am jokeing and then we race and I smoke the sh!t out of him and all he can remember is getting smoked by a bug that didn't even look nice.
I don't know if you get what I'm trying to say but that is just my opinion on paint.
But don't get me wrong, If you can afford the paint then get the best you can buy. If I had more money I would get I decent paint job but untill then I'm going with the cheap method.

the rhino lining idea isn't bad........i live in WA wehre rhino-liner is based and the company car is a bug with rhino horns on it. it looks sweet, hides everything, and it'll never scratch.........not too shabby
