I am young and poor.
I have a 1971 S. Beetle that has whatever stock Generator that came with it. For my reciever... I have it cleverly placed in the glove box (anti-theft). I have two Jensen 6*9's sitting in a homeade rack I built...(luggage area). What I want to know.... is how large of an amp will that generator handle. I want to be able to run 2 10's or 1 12". An amp I could get for cheap is a 350Watt. I just need to know if that generator will handle it. If so, Wonderful, if not, how big of an amp will it handle...?

the generator won't run any amp. i tried running a 400 watt amp and that was too big. i then stepped it down to a 150 and it was still too big. in my car (and in most people's cases) you'd have to get the alternator conversion. it's only $100 from so cal imp and it's a very easy conversion. with that you can run anything and not worry about enough power.

I ran a 500 watt stereo off my first generator.

IT worked, but it popped two voltage regulators in the process.

Go with an alternator, it will save you a lot of headache.

I had np running a head unit w 40w*4ch and a single 10 with 300w going to it. The only problem i had was the battery only had enough to run this setup for a hour, any longer and I would have to push start it. My drive home was 1.5h to 2h and I had the radio going nonstop at a good volume. Just make sure that you have a good Bosch reg. under your back seat.

in my 68 i got a 50x4 face and i have an 800 watt amp with a 15 all on a stock generator so i would say u should be fine
