Got my new car, 1940 Kubelwagen (picts)

After a month after purchase I got my Kubel delivered. The seller did some work before shipping it over, I didn't mind the wait. Not museum quality but far from a total wreck. It's a 1944 body with a 1940 KDF Kubel chassis and '59 tranny and engine (from what I was told, haven't checked it out yet though). I am pretty certain it's a KDF chassis, has that wierd center channel thingy in between the pans.
It was from the African Korp, an Austrian found 2 Kubel's and made one good one out of the two after the war. Converted to hydraulic brakes per German laws at the time and was used around his castle for hauling, etc. Then sold to the next owner (my seller) in 1959 when he was 18. Fast forward to present and now I'm the next owner
I'll eventually restore it little by little but will enjoy it as is for now while I finish my chopped Oval project.
Click here to see gallery picts. If you can't access it that means my PC is turned off.

I'm finding some cool wierd stuff here and there the more I look at it. The rear trunk cover (behind the rear seats) is exactly the same as the engine lic cover. There's 2 battery tray spots one on each pans. I'll probably start a website soon on the project.
I just got a hold of a complete set of doors, but it's in worse shape then mine so needs full resto. For $125 + $100 shipping (from Germany), I think it's a good deal once I restore them (as an extra set at least). I also just got a bakelite center pod for split beetles (used in some Kubels as well) for $20, but needs resto also. I almost have a split Speedo too (mine's from a '59 I think). So that's pretty much the original style dash besides the metal dash board.
If anyone comes across any parts, feel free to let me know. I may start making molds and make parts out of fiberglass as replacement panels for myself (while I resotre the original ones of course). I could get a KDF engine case, but I wouldn't know what would fit in there (would 25hp parts work?).

I added more picts, more closeups, etc. Any info on any of these parts is appreciated. I got a hold of a company in Germany that makes about 55 some odd replica parts for Kubels if anyone's interested also.

Hey Nick,
Very cool car. Good luck with it. By the way, can you tell me the name of the local wrecking yard that has VW parts?
Thanks,
Rick
