Tire Size Moron

if i had some tires that are 27 x 8.5 x 14, will they fit on my thing? i do have 14" rims. the 8" sounds pretty wide to fit on stock rims, but like i said in the topic, i am tire size moron, so i don't really know much.
if they fit on the rims, will they clear the fenders of a stock thing?

Scott, that width could be perhaps on the narrow side for the tire but I would say that it is still within the acceptable range.
If you go to
http://tirerack.com and find your tire there and click onto the spec page you will find the recomended rim widths for any given tire.
I would say that it will clear your fender on a STOCK wheel. Good luck. Bob Ingman

I have personally seen this size tire on a stock Thing wheel. They were even BFG All Terrains. They fit perfectly on a stock Thing

Got my new tires yesterday...BF Goodrich All terrains-27x8.50R14. Love'em!!! They fit my stock 14" rims. Nice deep tread and "gripper" sidewalls. Got at least another 1" of ground clearence. They did rob a little of my acceleration though. I guess the larger rolling diameter? Can't wait to take it off road for a real test!
