Raising Thing Rearend
I was just wondering what all you guys with lifted THINGs have done to the rearend. How much did you turn the torsion bars, any other mods like lengthened trailing arms, aftermarket axles, etc. I'm just trying to get some ideas of what to do with my THING.

Best to get Jeff hibberds book Bajas and Buggies. He gives a good explanation of procedure . In fact its the bst book I know of for all round Baja or off-road building. Good luck. Bob Ingman

Thanks Bob. That book has a lot of good info. I was just wondering how much people were lifting and I saw the stats on your car in another post.

I have a '73 with the rear raised. It was raised when I got it, so I can't tell you how many splines it's turned.
I was thinking about going with some 1 to 1.5 inch longer trailing arms, since there seems to be plenty of room to do so.
Just a note, I have some hogged-out type 4 CV's from transform, and they don't handle the angle so well. Looks like I'm going to have to do the 930 conversion.

Thanks for telling me about your experience with the type 4 cvs. What do you not like about them. Did they start clicking or do you just think they dont handle the angle like you thought they would.
