Thing Windows

Hi everyone.
I have not posted to the forum for a while.
I have a yellow 73 with a white top.

I picked up the top & frame at the Thing shop while they were at the Asheville show.

Next step is new windows.
Any ideas on who makes the best ones or would it be better to make my own?

Also,
I njticed a post on 3-point seat belts. I spotted a Thing with a piece of metal welded to the roll cage to fasted the harness. It looks similar to the ones used on the early jeeps.

I met Mike a few times at the Thing shows in Asheville.

His folks also have a Thing of their own and the caravan down to NC and cruise along the BlueRidge Parkway.

I give him a call about the windows.

Figured I'd add my 2 cents on this one: I just got a full set of soft windows from German Motor Works (www.thingsforthething.com), and have to admit that I'm impressed. They cost me $600, so that was a serious consideration, but after doing my research and seeing the final product, I'm happy with my purchase.

I thought that GMW was a better decision over Thing Shop, because GMW uses one piece of top material to make the windows (instead of a few pieces). This uses more material, but results in a seamless border, with no channels to allow water to get in (and we all know how rusty those frames can get when water gets in). GMW also included two very nice carrying bags free with the set of windows (did pay $600 for everything, though, so "free" leaves room for interpretation).

I also found them to be nice folks to do business with, and they just sent me a holiday card. Most importantly, though, their work is top notch.
