Anyone have an idea how one gets on of these to the US? How does customs, DMV, and costs work out?

You know what would be cool...Go to Greece and see what's in Jim's toy collection, eat Greek food, beaches etc. Then tour Europe in one of those 181's and ship it back to the USA. Anyone want to sponser me?

Jim,

How many 181s did you buy? I'm in the market for side mirrors (the ones that attach to the body - not the door - would be better). Maybe some other parts too. I'm in the states, but am also Greek. If someone were to buy one of these 181s to keep in Greece, what kind of cost and tax would be involved?

Thanks

Nice to see another Greek here!

Well, for the side mirrors I am not sure if I was have some.I check four 181s that is near to my house and all have the mirrors in the doors not in the body.I will be able to check the rest early this week.
As for the registration in Greece you have to pay custom taxes (300 - 600 EUR)
technical inspection (150 - 300 EUR)
number plates & year sticker (60 EUR + 80 EUR)

That's all!

I was wondering what your cost in US dollars for four side windows, both door mirrors. And shipping to Canada. Or what it would cost to crate an non-rusty complete thing and send to Canada. Do these things have the reduction boxes? And pics would be cool.

Hot VW there is a set of windows on the samba that just need new plexiglass. I think the price is $140. Good luck. bob Ingman
