Hi guys.

I'm not very familiar with the Thing as you will soon see so please bear with me.
I want to raise my Bug using Thing spindles and I wonder if all Things has drumbrakes? My bug with a 67 balljoint beam has stock VW discbrakes redrilled for Porsche boltpattern and I would like to keep these brakes after the conversion. What else do I need from a Thing front beam to do this properly? Trailing arms too I believe? Anything else? How much do I have to pay for these parts in good used condition(don't need discs and calipers)?

Thank you for your time

Regards

I know that the 181 lower control arms are different (the ball joints point down) but it might be possible to use Beetle uppers, I've never tried it.
High ground clearance usually implies off-road usage, and most folks aren't interested in having that much front brake for off-road, so I think you'd be in new territory;
the only way I can imagine grafting disk brakes on would be to have the Thing spindles modified to incorporate a mounting point for the calipers - it might be possible to fabricate an adapter bracket for the purpose.

Thank you for answering.
I wont be doing any off-roading unless you call the norwegian roads for a off-road track, which I do, especially in the winter Image
I'll have to figure something out regarding fitting discs then.
Ok, so I'm looking for 4 control arms and 2 spindles then. How much am I expected to pay for this setup in good condition?
