Paint question - please advise.
Anyone know what the original floor color for a Thing is supposed to be? I've seen them painted black, and I've seen them painted to match the color of the car - any idea how they looked when they came from the Puebla plant?
Thanks!
Thanks!

They were painted to correspond to the paint code of the vehicle. In other words it was all the same color inside and out. Good luck. Bob Ingman

bob,
so a white thing would have had a white floor pan from the factory?
on a similar note, where is a good source for reference photos of original things? i am starting to tuck into my thing project, finally, and i am looking for reference materials.

Scott I misread that previous post as being what color is the interior. I would assume the floors to all be black. Sorry, Bob Ingman

Ok, so my floors should be black if I'm going for a stock look - right?
A follow-up question to that is: what finish black? (i.e., flat, semi-gloss, or gloss)?
I appreciate the help!

Chech here for more info. Looks as if might be the LD43 as used on steering, hand brake, gear shift, and seat frames. However is could possably be LD41 which is a bit less flat. Good luck. Bob Ingman http://www.thething.org/paintcodes.html

What about POR15/ Is`nt the advantage offered by it worth a little sacrifice in originality? I like the idea, correct or not. How about you? Good luck. Bob Ingman

Kent, thanks for your response and the information involved. This is nearly a double post because when chinacat first asked this question (11-19)I attempted to find him an answer so I took the question to topica where you were kind enough to respond. In effect I passed that information given by you at that time (11-20). Thanks again. Keep hanging out. We need all the information we can get and your participation is genuinely appreciated by those here. Bob Ingman
