WHAT IS THAT MOUNT IN THE ENG. COMPARTMENT

Looking in the engine compartment, on the driver side there is a bracket with some threaded holes. What are these for? Since I am installing an 1835 and living in the desert, heat is a major issue. I bought a really neet oil cooler with a thermostat controlled ekectric fan which mounts perfectly on that bracket and will draw air down through the side vents. Just don't know what that bracket is really for. And Bob, took your advice and installed duel carbs vice the single Weber.

Semper Fi Forever.
I could just tell you that the bracket is for use in right hand drive cars, so that the weight of the aircleaner offsets that of the driver to help maintain the critical balance these cars require. But I won't!
The real reason for the bracket is called Option M-153, Dual Oil Bath aircleaner. This consists of two standard oil bath aircleaners and a special "Y" or, if you prefer, "T" shaped air intake pipe that allows both aircleaners to feed a stock carb. This was intended for extra dusty areas.
The p/n indicates this was apparently originally used on a bus. 211-129-615 F, Elbow, M-153

Semper Fi you`ll like the duals a lot better. Glad to hear it. I too have found a use for that bracket. My electric fuel pump is mounted there just like it was made for it. Good luck. Bob Ingman

Those dual airfilter bases were installed on most years from 69 to 80, but you almost always find them on 72's and 74's.

NTHNG, I like that idea of having the battery moved. Once had an AUDI 5000 with the battery under the rear seat that started "gassing" into the car. Also hear about a lot of repair to the 181's around the battery area of the floor pans. I love this forum, so many creative people.

nthang I like the sound of your pans. How hard was it to cut to fit? I am currently using Fiberglass pans,no worry about rust,just A little on the flimsy side
