Hey Crack, what you been smokin man?? As far as I know all things were 14" wheels(with the poss exception of the early military versions).
They are like a bus wheel but without the slots. They are about 5" or 5 1/2" wide and have the wide 5 (205mm)pattern.They are a Thing specific 181 part#. See the facts and figures post for details.
Good luck. Bob Ingman

now that you are finished rolling it let me tell you that not only military 181s had 15" wheels, also 1971 Mexican Safaris came with 15x4 1/2 but with a different offset than the bugs. The very first Mexican Safari (october 1970) had 15" beetle's black wheels.

You had better roll another before you read any further.

The 14x5 wheels used on THINGs were THING specific and many were pulled and tossed as custom wheels were installed. Right now used ones are almost impossible to find, but you can buy new (NOS) ones at one of the THING suppliers for about $180.00 each. You might find used ones at some of the THING suppliers.

Thing wheels are going dirt cheap on the Samba. Almost not worth messing with because guys are about giving them away. Good luck. Bob Ingman

The ebay tires and rims look like they could be a good buy. I would express a little concern about item 2400626435 being sold as a "Collectable", however the tires are listed at ebay item 2400748513 by the same seller.

Roll one more and I will sell you my OEM ROS (RUSTY OLD STOCK) 14" stock 5/205 rims for a pretty penny now that I am running 5x130 Centerlines and have no use for them since I already have an anvil and an anchor for my volleyball net posts. K-mann

I dumped my "adapter/equppted chrome 205 70 R14 (chevy bolt pattern)" for a set of American Eagle 5 spoke, 5 lug Empi style wheels and 185 65 R15 tires. Smoooth! Look great and balanced perfectly and diameter is almost OEM. Radioman
