Windshield hinge help

Hi Volks!
Anyone got ideas for separating the hinge for the hood and windshield without cutting the hinge pin? Thanks for any/all input.

Do you mean seperate the entire frame from the hood? Those large screws can be a bit pesky. I don't know what it's called but I had to buy a tool that has different attachments (assorted phillips heads mainly).
When you stick the end of it in the screw you wack the other end with a big hammer & it breaks the screw free. I have had to use this several times on old Vee Dubs.
I also used it to seperate the upper windshield from the lower part, of course your at risk of breaking the windshield but I did it without breaking it.
Good Luck,
Scott

No, I actually want to split the hinge for some serious metal finishing on both parts.

I'm not around my Thing right now but I know on a hasp you can grind the nub off one end (carefully) and them take a small enough punch to fit through the hole & hammer the pin out. Then you can put the pin back in later if you need to. Let us know if that is feasable.

Thanks Thingguy. That does sound like a feasible answer. I'll give that a shot this week an' see how it goes.
