Thought I better check in with the fellow 181 guys here.
I`m in Portland Oregon to do work on the Thing. The T-4 engine is now sold and resides in one very nice 356 Porsche.
I have yet to decide on a replacement. Will depend on what comes up but will probably be either a T-4 pancake or a 1915 upright. Just depends on what comes along in the next few weeks.
I have an 02 pyramid trans to install while here. There is guy here locally that has his own kit for installation. I`ll meet him soon. His kit uses his own mounts and nosecone. He has cast his own nosecone so that the conversion is installed by bolting hockey stick to shift rod in conventional fashion. The mounts and nosecone allow the trans to sit lower and align with the shift rod. The nice part in this is that the lower trans elimonates the extreme angles of the axles and CV joint ( the problem I have now).
I also plan to do a cut and turn of the front beam while here.
The Veep is now in my possession and I have a DP 1600 stocker to go into it. It will be my sons first car.
Glad to find all is well at the 181 Forum. Please forgive my absence. It is a temporary situation then back to Alaska and 18 hr days at the computer once again.Good luck to everyone. Bob Ingman

Checkin In
Hey Bob
I jumped into this thread just in case you didn't check back with the thread on the Off-Road forum where you talked about this new T2 into T1 adapter.
Thanks for sharing the info you are gathering on this conversion. Hopefully it will be fesable to put a T2 into a full body beetle without the engine getting relocated up higher than stock. That's what has been stopping me doing the conversion so far.
QUESTION: is this a Gene Berg style conversion, or does it replace the T2 nosecone with something totally aftermarket?
Let us know what you find out!
Again, thanks.

Class 11 Streeter this is not the Gene Berg setup at all. The chief difference is that the trans does not have to be didassembled and the intermediate housing replaced. Just the nosecone is different.
Joe this is not Mike L. Give me a break. Its the other Mike. Mike H.in Gaston. If this works as well as I understand it to I will make a point of making the sourse well known to all here at STF. Good luck Bob Ingman
