Quick question: Any difference in procedure between pulling a Thing engine than a Bug or Ghia? I've done lots of Bugs, Ghias, and Buses, but I'm about to hit my first Thing engine pull, and just want to make sure there's no major difference that I might overlook.

It's easier to bump your head on the hood

Well, I guess that answers that question.

It's much easier than a Bug because there is so much more room to work with. But I guess that is kinda obvious.

Well, if your Thing has an original eninge with all of the skid plate/protection, you have to remove that stuff. Otherwise, no difference.

I've never HAD to pull the skid stuff off. It does make it easier to remove the piece that bolts to the back of the tranny to cover the front of the engine (FIF), so you don't have to pull the engine back so far.

If your car has the original exhaust end then you have to unbolt them or loose your rear bumper.
