Exactly, stay with air-coolers. Too much water in the other conversions!

It's a good thing I'm home sick today, (cough) so I can jump on this.

I'm thinking of changing my user name to Type 5 Joe now :~)

What do I need to do this? and will I lose all my previous posts counted?

Yep, as Tom said you will lose all the previous posts counted. But hey if you want to do it, that's fine. Also, seeing how I have no moderator for this forum, are you up for it Joe?

Type 5 Joe,
Were is your shop located, my good friend lives in bend, and a business partner lives in Redmond. We are down there quite often.
Are you the guy that has the AC engine in the rear of the rabit pickup? We were talking at the woodburn bugin and he said he was from Bend, just wondering if that was you or not.

I'm in Redmond, the shop is about 20 miles west of here, behind Smith Rock State Park.

It's on a 50 acre farm out in the Country.

You were talking to Terry Hooker, I know the guy.

H2o to Air. We install bronze bushing in the h20 boxer case & hone to fit your lifters, We also open the case stud holes to replace the wimpy stock case studs, for better aftermarket case studs. With a german factory h2o boxer case only the center main needs shuffle sleeves. We have done a number of race cases 101.6 4" bore with 82 & 86 mm cranks all with flanged Scat & bugpack cranks. We have machined down the lifter bore tops & installed bushings for customers to put in engle & web cams in their stock 1.9 & 2.1 engines. Last year we did Jeff Rogers (Badbug2)www.badbug.com 2.1 engine case to 2800cc Kick Bad *** N.O.S. powered drag sedan it ran 9.45 @ 145 1/4 mile. Nice going Jeff!! And Thanks for choosing us do your h2o boxer engine mods. And good luck in the 2003 season! WE can do any h2o boxer mod. that you may need & yes I have main brgs for the 1.9 & 2.1! email me rjenning@hscis.net Thanks Rocky

Rocky, doesn't Jeff Rodgers work for you?

He's listed as one of your employees on your site....

I would hope he'd choose your shop :~)

I also offer Aluminum-Bronze lifter bore conversion bushings, the stuff works great for thermal expansion, lubricity, ect...

The same for valve seats....

-Not many people want to go for it, the material cost alone is over $100.00.

7075 alum works well too, never had one wear out....

I disagree on the shuffle-pins, you need six or forget it.

Mine are case hardened (you can bounce a file off of them).

They have a Bullet-nosed end, for lead engagement, 1/2" of press engagement per side.

You can also grab mine W/ vise grips (they won't de-form) put a little heat at the base of the main saddle, and take them out...

this is a great advantage, as most motors need to be "mocked up", assembled and dis-assembled many times before final assembly...

For $100.00 inc prts, this is a Great Deal

Maybe we'll see you at Woodburn, and the Rose City Bug In?

What happened last year at Woodburn?

Cool looking Race Car you have there (Pocket Rocket), By the Way

Jeff's car is very nice too

Hi Joe, Yes Jeff does work in my shop part time. R&D is something we work on all the time, not only to make our drag bugs go faster but to help many other vw racers with their cars as well. In 2001 Jeff ran a Scat case. Things did not work out well with that case, so he asked me to convert an h2o boxer to air case for him. I had been working on the conversion h2o to air off & on for about 2 1/2 years. Shuffle sleeves in the center mains work great for me, but I also use much stronger clamping force aftermarket studs to hold the case together. Yes, all performance engines must be "mocked up" a number of times to get it right! I'll be at Woodburn this summer "2003". About Woodburn last summer "2002", my son Micky (He drove the Pocket Rocket) & I were at Woodburn in June. Ran some 10.60's & had a great time. Realy like the track & owner there. At the Summit Sport Compact Nationals In August in Woodburn, raced in the all motor class. We were the only car from the NW to qualify for any of the five classes. We made it to the semi's And had a great time again. Thanks for liking the Pocket Rocket & Jeffs car the Bad Bug 2. Thanks Rocky
