Lifters ?

Post by Pillow »

Okay so the T5 uses the standard T4/Vanagon hydro lifter, but with a T1 cam.

Is it possible to put a T4 solid lifter in and run it with a standard T1 cam?

I would assume so, but just wanted to get a feel... Saves the process of sleaving the lifter bore in the case.

Yes that's the way to go if you stay with Type IV lifters.

More aggresive, long duration Type I grinds will require a lifter W/ a larger face (Type I).

Excellent, that is what I was thinking.

Granted I will probably end up keeping the hydros and lame hydro bump stick... For a bus, easy is good.

Amazingly enough the T5 did not show signs of wear like the T4 motors do with the beat up cams and lifters.... Maybe the T1 cam is a better design?

Superior Design.

What did you think of that rear thrust bearing? Your's is a 2.1 Right?

I would think about going to a new web-cam, new lifters, ect...

Very interesting main bearing... Weird, but I guess it works.

I plan on getting a reground/new hydro cam and new hydro lifters. Nothing really exciting though. Again jsut a boring bus engine, no high HP or revs needed.

Thanks,
