I'm very interested in building up a wasserboxer for my 73 beetle. Just wondering what kind of transmission I will have to use? This engine won't bolt up to my stock 73 one, will it?

Just like the T4 conversion. Use a 210 or 215 T4 flywheel and there you go. Fit right in the VW tranny with no cutting.

If I remember right the T1 pressure plate and clutch are used on the T4 flywheel in this conversion. Check out Tunas T4 site for the details. But it is easy.

Use the appropriate starter to match the flywheel.

Use the early Type IV 1700 flywheel W/ your bug starter...

You *may* have to machine the flywheel for the pilot bearing..

Mine are hooked to late bus transmisions....

The Type IV crowd can answer these questions.

Somebody Correct me?

Joe,

1969 (only) 1700 411 is the only year 200mm
flywheel.
210 & 215 works very well too.
All needs the needle bearing to be installed.

So you are correct !
