Lowered Front and Tire Rub?

Post by aircooledguy »

Hey everyone,

Ok, the question of the day is: If I was to lower the front of my Thing using beetle spindles, torsion arms, and balljoints(which i believe is somewhere about a 2" - 2.5 " drop), would there be problems using the stock rims and tire size(185 75 R14) up front? Has anyone tried this? Thanks a lot for any information.

what are you going to do with the thing spindles and trailing arms if you make the swap? and do you have the bug stuff you need to swap?

I plan on keeping them, incase I want to put it back the way it was, or just in order to pass them along if there ever is a future owner that would want the original stance. I do not have the beetle parts in order to make the swap as I am yet unsure if the stock tires will fit. If they will not, I'll have to take a step back and look at money issues with buying new tires and possibly new rims all around. Who knows.
