Oxyboxer cooling

Three questions: 1) Do the type 1 heads give enough cooling in 90 or 92 x 76.4 configuration oxyboxer converted to doghouse upright cooling? 2)Does the type 1 tinware truly bolt on and the engine fit as stock with no air gaps between the tin and body air seal? 3)Does the thermostat bolt up ok as well? Thanks!

Lots of questions there.

1. Yes, the heads are fine. Build/design that like you would any regular T1 based engine.

2. Tinware needs modified as a T5 block is wider so you need to shorten T1 tinware to fit. Always easier to take away than add :)

3. No t-stat provisions. Which is no big deal and much easier to control via oil thermostats to the oil cooler. Cool it like a 911 oil system.

* There is no doghouse oil cooler provisions, so you have to come up with something else. Granted many people build a doghouse oil cooler stand to work like a normal T1 layout so they do not need an external cooler.

If the top 'square' of the dog-house is removed, a T1 cooler will fit upside down attached to a modified take-off plate. We had to bully the firewall a little to clearance this. Aeroquip oil hoses connect up to a sandwich plate between the filter and the 'case.

2p over :)
