I was wondering if Beetle drums would fit on a 74 Thing so I could put a set of 17" wheels that I have, on my Thing.
I've seen where you can redrill 4-lug Beetle drums or buy predrilled drums with other patterns but I can't (and will not) drill the stock Thing drums. I'll ask the same question in the European forum but it seems to be more beetle talk there.
Looking for 5x100 drilled drums for a Thing.
17" Wheels on a Thing. Drum question.

Check with CIP1 in the Hot VW magazine
I have seen and called CIP1, and they have the drums already drilled.
I was going to go that way, but now i am going Nostalgia Look, 4" in front and 6" in the rear and lowered all around.
I hope that helps, Peter

looking for drums
I now know that 68 and newer beetle drums will fit on the Thing. The problem is trying to find pre drilled drums or blanks for the front. I don't want to change to discs and lower the car and ad expense. The 17" wheels with tires I have mounted are actually 1" shorter than the 195 14s I have on stock rims. I have called CIP1 and they have no 5 x 100, just 5 x 130 or 4 x 100. CB Performance said they have no front or rear drilled drums or blanks, only stock bolt patterns. California Speed Parts has 5 x 100 rears but no drilled fronts or blanks. Is drilling stock beetle 4-lug drums my only option?
