Im sure it's like 1980's water cooled bus engine words? But whats the diference between the two? Im looking at all my options for big reliable daily driven horsepower. If you go to, title IS THIS POSSIBLE, IN THE TYPE 1 FORUM I have said everthing that I want my future motor to do. I'm sure these Q's have been asked 100 times so Im sorry about that. Would I have to turn my 65 bug into water cooled or just use some water cooled parts on an aircooled motor or what? What would be some advantags to Wasser boxer, Oxyboxer route? So fare the best way for me seems to be Type 4. But remember I dont know anything about this so this might could be the way to go?! Who ever aswers these Q's could you read my IS THIS POSSIBLE page first so you know everything Iwant out of my engine? Thank guy's!

Wasser=Water
Oxy=Air
Boxer=Flat (opposed cylinders) engine
Wasserboxer=Watercooled engine
Oxyboxer=Aircooled engine
Actually, the Oxyboxer is a Wasserboxer that's been converted to run without liquid cooling. Here's a killer site all about this:

Thanks

Since the wasserboxer came after the oxyboxer wouldnt it be that it (wasserboxer) is an air cooled (oxyboxer)engine converted to cool with water?

Nein! Did you even look at the site I posted previously? Here's a quote from it:
"We are converting wasserboxer WBX engine cases to aircooled"

Maybe YOU should read the link you posted as the second line reads "The engine is a type 1 configuration engine, converted to water cooling."
so you are saying the "oxyboxer" is a "wasserboxer" (air cooled engine converted to watercooled) converted back to aircooled? How confusing...

No, first came the type 1, then then type 4, then the wasserboxer.
The wasserboxer is developed out of the type1.
No there is people wanting more and more so they use the wasserboxercase to a aircooled engine with type1 heads for example, this is a oxyboxer.

Point in case, I have one of the quickest and fastest waterboxer to air cased race cars.

This ShopTalkForums is not only knowledgable but also entertaining!

So what would our engine be?

The engine in our clubs low-budget drag Bug is (was) a DG prefixed Wasserboxer.
It has had the water jackets around the cylinders machined back to resemble a Type 1. It is drilled/tapped to take Type1 head studs and uses aircooled 1914cc barrels. The Wasser' heads have had the water ports nearest the pistons welded-up and each head is cooled by its own radiator, both in the rear window area.
A type 1 dog-house shroud is used to cool the cylinders and we have a T1 oilcooler inverted in the stock location. 48DRLA's and a monster stainless header/stinger. We will be happy with mid 14's.
Could this be the first true
WOXYBOXER

how about a 1.9 wasserboxer into a kooblekar?

I have the motor disassembled and I have the kooblekar running and driving on a stock 1600. advantages, noise reduction, more hp, real heat,
down side, radiator?, cost to build motor, reducing value of KOOBLE
