Gene Berg Memorial Cruise and Julie Aleva's 1974 412

The Gene Berg Memorial Cruise ( http://www.gbcruise.org ) will be heading up the Northwest to Vancouver, BC this year for the DVKK Great Canadian VW Show and Julie Aleva will be driving her 1974 African Red 412 Estate which was featured in February 2003 VW Trends magazine.

Julie will be joining us as the Berg Cruise will pass thru San Jose, CA and up north.

Here is the Berg Cruise itinerary of the stops as we trek our way to Canada:

The 2003 Gene Berg Memorial Cruise destination is Vancouver, British Columbia for the Great Canadian VW Show ( http://www.vwdvkk.com/gcvws/index.html ). We will leave GBE in Orange, CA on Sunday the 10th and arrive in B.C. on Wednesday. Along the way we will stop in Monterey and Eureka, CA and Eugene, Oregon.

*Please be sure to have a valid passport or birth certificate for the crossing into Canada.*

Traveling Groups

There will be a group traveling from the Denver area to Orange. This group will leave Colorado on the 7th. Contact Max Welton ( max_welton_2k@yahoo.com ) if you wish to join this group.

Sunday (10 August) - Orange, CA to Monterey, CA

We will leave GBE at 8:00 AM sharp. Note that this is an hour earlier than previous years to allow for a visit to Hearst Castle in San Simeon and Moro Bay on the way to Monterey.

Monday (11 August) - Monterey to Eureka, CA

After we get through the SF bay area, we'll cruise along the Avenue of the Giants. Dinner at the Samoan Cookhouse in Eureka.

*The route from Eureka to Eugene is not yet decided.*
We will either go North on 101 to Reedsport then inland along the Umpqua river or cut over to Grants Pass on 199, then go to Eugene on I-5.
