Vacuum & fuel line hose sizes?

Post by justinshelton »

Hi, Guys -

I have my '71 411 ready to go . . . it's been painted, has new carpet throughout, back seat has been re-stuffed . . . now I'm to the tune-up phase before I take her on the 1000 mile drive to Chicago. Moving in mid-August.

I want to replace all of the hoses in the car, but I don't trust the parts guys here to give me the right stuff.

1. What diameter hoses do I need?
2. What total length of each diameter hose should I get?
3. Do I have to use the cloth-wrapped hoses? If so, will I have to order from a VW supplier, or will an autoparts store have them? I use regular neoprene type hose for my Ramblers, but the engine compartment is much cooler in the Ramblers.

I can't find hose size anywhere in my Clymers or anything.

Thanks!

Yes...use the cloth covered hose. Its better against oil and heat. Its not as necessary outside the engine compartment. You will not find thishose outside of foreign parts shops. Beck Arnley world parts dealer have it all...and any shop that deals in Europea car parts. Take in snippets of the hose. they can take it fron there. Ray
