fuel filter exchangeability

Post by Jan Peter de geus »

Does anybody (Ray?) know whether the fuel filter used on the US spec L-jet beetle can be used on the 411 with D-jet or that there are subtle differences? The VW and VW-Porsche filter with VW # 311 133 511 D, Bosch # 0450 901 003, is no longer produced and difficult to locate for me in The Netherlands. I can easily get a replacement filter for the US spec Beetle, though. I believe it has the VW # 113 311 511, I do not know a Bosch number. Please advise. Regards, Jan Peter

In eality, most any modern filter whose level of filtration is set up for fuel injection...can be used. The original filter was quite nicely designed in that it used a pleated filter....and to keep from sucking a hole through that filter accidentally, it used a pre-filter of pressed mineral wool. Though some are hard to fit, most any fuel injection filter that will fit in the metal clamp arm under the front end will do. I have used rabbit digifant eary filters without the banjo fittings. It has a single barb on each end...and is a little large ..but works nicely. It also has the added ability of not being too restrictive. Ray
