Hi-Po low dough wasser

Post by tomkisner »

Hello I was thinking of different street strip combo's and figured you really cant get a reliable T1 without major $ as well as a hi-po t4 without major dollars so I might as well go T5. I figure that with only 90 something hp 2.1 liters this motor is strangled with restrictions from the factory so I figured SuperMag 044's (there for t1 but they'll fit right?) they also have a full port and polish as well as 42x37 valve size all for under $600 dollars. $600 for 48 IDF's those aren't too big r they it is a 2.1? A 4 into 1 exhaust with v8 muffler which runs $250. All of this in collaboration with 1.4 rockers on a bolt on shaft $100 This should make 140 horsepower right? With a redline around 6500 rpm because the heads, exhaust, and rockers should open up he top end? Any other advice I dont want to split the case it is a strong running 2.1 that I got for 500 so you figure A powerful torquey 2.1 liter for 2 grand. Any hp estimates appreciated.

If you want this motor you must split the case. The piston pins are a different sizes as far as I know. Check out vwmorten 's site. I don't know the address but I am sure someone does-SS

OK, wait. You're talking about an OxyBoxer conversion right?

First of all what you seem to be looking for is a low cost, high power, reliable, street and strip engine. So is everyone else. If you find it I hope you will report back here.

You also may be misjudging the cost of building on OBX conversion. No one wants to volunteer any direct information about what the actual costs are in building one of these engines. That alone should give us some clues. From my own investigations, though, the cost of building an OBX engine seems to fall somewhere between the T1 and T4 engines.

You are correct about the T5 engine though. There seems to be some potentail power locked away in the wasser engine that would not be too difficult to release. If you're up for installing a radiator in your VW then you could probably make some mods that would not require you to split the engine. I think that you could get up over 100HP using stock internals if you have ported heads, better flowing exhaust, ratio rockers, etc.

Edit: I guess that I'm confused by your question because you seem to be talking about running the T5 in it's stock water cooled configuration in your car but you mention using a pair of air cooled heads. What did you have in mind, air or water cooling?

I have seen some anecdotal reports of a 2.1 wasser with ported heads and 1.4 rockers, otherwise stock (cam, injection) putting out ~120 HP. (Guessing, he never gave exact #s)
With a chip[, add 10-15 HP.

The wasser heads, bigger valves/ ported, appear to flow very well vs stock.

That info came from a fellow who sells all of the above, check Boston Bobs site.

I'm fuzzy if he actually has a dyno, seems to only build stockish motors.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I'm sorry I haven't responded yes this would be an oxyboxer conversion. But I'm wary of the price I think I'll just go with a 1915

Hi

I made 96 @ the wheels with a 2.1 with 8.00:1 comp (stock is 9.00:1), stock cam, 1.4:1 rockers, bug headers, slightly larger throttle body & Autronic SMC ecu.
