Stroker motor info needed?

Post by peterjager »

I going with a stroker motor, either the 2275 or 2332 by Scat. Which one would be more for the street and weekend drags?

Plus who can i get info from for the 4 barrel? I would like use one for my turbo draw-thru?

The heads are going to be big valve, port & polished from a friend, with the T4 turbo from Majastic, in Texas.

The tranny is going to be done by Lyle Cherry out of the Dallas area, as soon as i can get my Bus tranny to him.

All this will go into my VW Thing.

Will be using a 1600 turbo for the rest of the summer, to finish and register the car.

Peter I hate to tell you this but the weight of the Thing is nearly equal to that of a bus. Entirely unsuited to drag racing. I`d be looking at a Ghia or 914 for that use. Even a bug will come in about a third lighter. Your question is well suited to the VW speed and drag racing forum. Good luck. Bob Ingman

Bob-- as usual you and I land on the same mushroom in the same parsec.... Today we were doing dyno tunes and flash runs for our premier Bug show of the year on Saturday at Bandemere. We all were laughing about the big numbers for a stock Thing... compared to a 68 Bus

They both weigh in with in 50 pounds of each other. You shoud have seen this bus with a 911 6 cyl, msd ignition, two three barrel webers and a Porsche 955 5 speed.. WE saw it go in 5th gear at 91 mph at 3200 rpm.... talk about typ 4....

OK I will say it for the records. Things sit high, go slow and can go almost anywhere. Use the natural features and build a car that can really go anywhere, sits really high and can make Ivan Stewart piss his pants. If you want to drag race a Thing turn it backward like the Deora in my drag race days.. More later, RW
