Type 4 Powered Thing

Post by Bob Ingman »

My Thing is a Rat Rod. Nothing too pretty but it gets the job done.
This car has:
Six inch widened front beam w/adjusters
Widened and lengthened rear trailing arms (2 1/2 X 2 1/2 in.)W/bus axles
Three inch body lift w/ raw materials
Stock 1800 Bus engine w/Solexes built 2056 in crate waiting to be installed.
Five rib bus transaxle w/whine

Good luck. Bob Ingman

That's very cool. It's very unusual looking how the engine sits so much lower than the body from the lift. I kinda expected it to look alot wider with the tires sticking out further at the front but it looks like it totally belongs. I love it. great job.

Dick it all worked because i did a LOT of planning before the project began. The lift was the key to installing the pancake(replaced T-4 w/DTM upright kit). I wanted a kind of factory look.
The beam is wider but tires are not obtrusive due to the 3 1/2" rims. Get your width from beam not from wheels. Less breakage of parts that way.
cheers. Bob Ingman
