air intake boot
Hi, I need an air intake boot for my 1974 412 wagon (the rubber piece that goes between the throttle body and the airflow meter). Does anyone have any leads on this part? Also, is it interchangeable from any other aircooled engine (such as a Vanagon or 914) or engines? Or can I get it from a Bosch distributor? Thanks!

Boot question
Hey Steve, I was looking for the intake boot for my 412 2door 1974 1700fi and it was a short boot number 022 129 967 S. I found a few boots on Ebay but they were a longer boot with different breather tube locations and different bends. I ended up fixing mine with with epoxy paste. I think the difference might be where the aircleaner is located.
I'm sure Ray will know the difference and availability or interchanges!
Good luck! Wahoo, Bill[/img]

I fabbed an IDF aircleaner to the meter and used the boot from a 80-84 Vanagon. Very little has to be done to the IDF cleaner to make it work with the square end of the meter. The aircleaner then can be mounted more or less anywere you want in the bay, probably flows air better than the stock air cleaner anyway. I asume your 74 is L-Jet like most that year. I actualy run the meter from the Vanagon also, to the stock 412 throtle body. So Im asume the round end of the meter on the stock 412 is the same size as the Vanagon.
