Joining the gang with a 412

Post by jhelgesen »

Hey Guys,

Brought this home this weekend. Pretty decent shape. If I can get it to run, I'll put it right on the road.

If you notice the piles on the left and right of the trailer, thats how much "stuff" was crammed in it. Filled the back of my truck taking it to the dump.

Its a nice one. Take your time putting it on the road. There will be a huge volume of things shot in the suspension. If you put it in motion too soon, you will destroy parts that may have otherwise been salvageable. Welcome! Ray

Welcome! You've got yourself a very special VW indeed. Once a 412 Variant gets into your life, you'll love it forever. Hope to hear from you soon.

P.S. The piles on the left and right of the trailer on the photo are nothing compared to the stuff my girlfriend crams into my Variant when we go on holiday!

...not in South Africa. In the past 10 years, I've only seen my first gold 412 a month ago. Very nice colour indeed. White was a very popular colour for 411s and 412s here, but the most common 412 colour is probably that avo/guacamole ligth green. My mom had a beige/light khaki 412 when I was small, which is also a fairly common colour. My own brown 412 is one of those colours you'll have to get used to, though....

I JUST GOTTA GET MINE ON THE ROAD !!!!
Mine was that weird green from factory, now it´s dark green and black, decromed. A bit "german look" over it.
i´ll be running 7 X 16" Trash lids on mine.
Engine will be a 71 X 90,5 = 1830 cc. turbo, whenever I get it done.
Also need to decide on my interior. Thinking much on 928 front seats. and a rear seat from an Audi Avant. But havent come around to that yet.
Good luck
Torben
