dual carbs

Hi all,
I've installed weber ICT 34's on my stock 1600, plus I added an
009 distributer.
The car works great except when I installed the webers, the clearance
from the manifolds to heads is non-existant.What I means is that the
manifolds rub on the body metal inside of the engine compartment.
Has anyone had this problem, or maybe it's stantard to cut away part
of the metal to give clearance?????
I have a vacum leak on one side and I beleive the manifold is not
fully seated.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Take a rubber hammer to the firewall, and/or grind the manifolds (only if they are real thick). I f you have these carbs and distributor, you are not doing a concours restoration, now are you?
Touch up paint if needed.

There should be a big rubber seal around the engine compartment to contact before bare metal. I would tweak the metal around a bit to get clearance. Good luck. Bob Ingman
