I have seen a few pictures, and seen in person, Things with 5 spoke wheels like these on them. Did VW ever put them on as an OEM wheel or are they aftermarket only?

BTW these don't quite look like the 5 spoke you can anywhere get these days for $40. I have a set of these. Our very own Mattt is selling these:

As far as I know, they are not VW (at least not type 181). Are they 14 or 15"? (the 181 used 14" rims that were similar to 68-70 bus but with 1/2" more offset and welded all the way around).

Sorry those are aftermarket wheels. They typically are of low quality and of little value.
The only way I think they are better than a Thing wheel is if they are 15". The Thing has a 14" wheel and if you like mean aggressive tires you will be severely limited in tire selection by staying with the 14" wheel. Good luck. Bob Ingman
