I am going to be removing my Engine in my 73 412 Fasty (4 door)

I am familiar with the removal of the Type 4 engine from a manual tranny Bus what are the differences in the 412 Auto that I should watch out for?

Also would a 2 litre motor be way to much power for the auto tranny to handle?

Thanks!

The auto tranny will be just fine. The main things to look for are about the same. You need to decide if you aree taking the entire drive line out or just the engine. Depending on your workspace...i personnally think removing engine and tranny all at one time are the best. Ground straps, shift cable, back-up light wiring, heater cables. The fuel injection wiring is best pulled loose from the brain and brought out complete with the engine. Then its just the front air trunking, the dipstick tubes...etc. Ray

I usually just yank the engine in my buses, wasnt really looking forward to yanking the auto out of the car. JUst not ready to handle that right yet.

The tranny is not really that hard. In fact...its a little easier to get around the flexplate bolts when you have this whole unit out. That way, you can also check the flex plate bolts for cracks, check the CV boots etc. Ray
