I went to get my new tires put on today (Yokohama Y356) When I went to collect my car it started then promptly stopped. I ran the batt down trying to start it. It's getting fuel but it seems to not be getting spark. I have power to the coil I have a new SVDA dizzy from aircooled.net. I have a new blue coil (I tried my old working coil no dice) everything ran fine on the way to the tire shop. I will change the points tomorrow but the old ones look fine. what could have gone wrong. Could the tire people have done something. BTW all the fuses are new and not blown.

Points points points it was the points. They were brand new and came with my new SVDA but must have shorted out. I had to leave it at the tire store in a bad part of town last night. By morning I was having withdrawals

Points can slip closed, get missaligned or even Pit themselves to death in no time. The worse cases I have are a pit that is so large it bridged the gap, but you could not tell because it had worn a "socket" in the otherside for the pit to sit in. Point files are your friend in rainy climates

Actually, your best friend would be to spend $60 bucks and dump the points and condensor and buy a pertronix module. 10 minute installation. Install it and forget it. You would be amazed at how much better it will run. Ray

I put a Petronix on my SVDA and it hasn't missed a lick in three years. I love it. Worth the money and real easy to install and set up.

The oddest breakdown I ever had... Drove me nuts! Was a wire off the points to the condensor had burned beneath the wire cover. If you pinched plastic cover you could feel the "hole"/gap in the copper wire below... Actually an older man found this as he used to be a VW mechanic back in the days and happened to walk by.

Weird things happen sometimes.

You don't say what year your bus is. If it's a late bay with fuel injection make sure that all of the vacuum hoses are on good.
