Alright I want to get more horsepower out of my car like everyone else and the car has a 1500 SP so I cant build up upon but I would like an oxy. What I need to know is it possible to make the oxy's completely aircooled while maintaining the wasser heads? Also how much horsepower would you guys expect from this combo
1 5/8 Header
DRD Port and Polish
Straight Cut Cam Gears
Web Cam 86 A
ARP Rod Bolts
Total Seal Piston Rings
Aj Simms Vaccum advance distributor
48 IDK?s
Lighten & balance stock flywheel
Thanks alot.
Wassy Oxy

Check out the aircooled wbx thread...
I'm curious, suspect they just weld up the passages that would go to the block, and use a flow-thru setup front to back.
Not "ideal" but probably far better cooling capacity/uniformity than air.
(Also more complex, but I think it would be worth it just to have a decent heater in most climates)
The nice things about a woxy is
A)All the killer T1 stuff fits, flexible deck etc, and
B) 101.6mm (4") bores are easily done... Although I worry about cylinder hot spots a bit.
Something at 101.6x90 is doable, the block has more room than any T1 block, save the new aftermarket ones.
103 bore has been done(Oettinger/Berg) , but water cooled.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hi, yeah, you mentioned this before, but how on earth can you get 103mm between even the stock stud spacing on a wbx?Piledriver wrote:103 bore has been done(Oettinger/Berg) , but water cooled.
BTW I have never seen/read about Oettinger 103mm watercooled cylinders. AFAIK, they never made these. For watercooled purposes in a 4 cylinder wbx a little over the stock 94mm was used with a longer stroke but thats all.
But I like to stand corrected if I'am wrong
I suppose you are not referring to the 3,6 wbx-6 cylinder?
Thanks,
Walter

Oettinger made a 103 nickasil jug set as well...
2.6L motor IIRC, 103x76...78?
Berg imported a kit, sold it for awhile, 103x82 IIRC, dropped in a wasser case/heads with machining.
The 97x82 kit just dropped in...Iron (rebored stock) jugs.

Yes, Oettinger did, but that was for a type 4 application. I know, I have a NOS setPiledriver wrote:Oettinger made a 103 nickasil jug set as well...

I'm Trying to google for the reference, Road and Track did a story on Bergs Vanagon a few (OK, many) years ago IIRC.
