Hi group....
I bought my first Thing today. A 1973 model. It needs everything, but I have big plans for it. Been lurking for a while, but finally bit the bullet. Wish me luck.....
Pray for me.....

Chris welcome to the 181 forum. We`re always glad to ad a name to the list here. Let us get to know you and your Thing. If you wish you can dig out our Introduction thread and use that. At the same time you will get to know some of us.
Also I would encourage anyone not having done so previously to do the same. I will bump the thread to the top . Best of luck. Hope you like it here. Bob Ingman

I suggest that you make a group of lists of what "needs everything" really means. You can do and redo things if you do not create a thought out plan. This list is filled with folks that have done everything from a total body off all new stock part, all original resto to severe offroad machines that have little or no stock running gear, brakes or suspension. Others like me have a combination of all of the above. I have come to believe that the expression "Doing Your Own Thing" Came from the limitless restoration possibilities the VW Thing offers its current victim. It like certain brands of potato chips used to claim. No one can eat just one.... Congratulation on becoming a member of one of the most passionate car owners groups that I have ever been involved with. K-mann
