Sealing case halves
I have my 2.1 ready to assemble. Can anyone tell me what to use to seal the case halves?. When I prepped each side I noticed there was a extremely thin layer of a white substance on the sealing surfaces. I looked through suppliers (calif. auto imports) listing for this stuff but could not find it. Is there something my local auto parts store can supply? I imagine whatever I use it must be thin enough not to affect bearing crush.

Curil .... John at aircooled.net carries this, I think.
Curil K-2 comes (a small tube) in the factory gasket set. for a Wasserboxer....
I use the Curil also on the case halfs....
Regular Curil on the other sections of the parting-line... Curi K-2 on Headgasket seals(in the channel / on the head suface), around the Cylinder sealing (water) surfaces.... a small amount on the pushrod tube seals.
Glue the valve-cover gaskets into the valve-covers (regular High Temp silicon)... I bead blast them to bare metal for good adhesion...
Make shure you get everything perfectly clean, and have NO extra sealant ..
