I seem to recall someone addressing insurance for the "THING" and it seemed like someone recommended a certain company whose annual premium was quite low.
I have insurance with American Collectors Insurance Inc. out of Cherry Hill, NJ. I have full coverage with $500 deductable on comp and collision for an agreed value of $8500. The terms are very restrictive, no daily driver, must be always garaged, etc. This seems rather high for my THING which gets less than 200 miles perv year.
Has anyone got a rceommendation, thanks
Cliff

Many collectors insurance companies don't cover Things...
Many have exclusions for military and/or off-road vehicles.
Ours is covered by a collectors insurance company -- they accepted us because we have a fleet and can prove we don't drive it.
IF your company is like ours, I called and talked to the underwriter rep.
We agreed on a target premium... then we negotiated what they would/would not want to cover. One of the big requests they made for ours was to put stock rims/caps back on it....
Before trying to switch companies, try contacting the underwriter.... stated value polices are all situation-by-situation negoatiations.... not in the same class as a "form/fit/function probability card".
Be blessed that you have stated value -- I'd work it backwards with your current insurance company.
If anyone is in the Midwest, contact me -- I know THE best insurance company.

Found the old thread. Capn Skully indicated his insurance was with the same company, American Collectors Insurance Inc., but he was paying half of what I do for same coverage. Called them and was told my premiums were higher since I had modified the engine ( installed new 1835). I should have checked that out before swapping engines
I guess in the long run it is worth the money, "boys and toys" syndrome, I like blowing away all the towns beetles.

Capn....
Try it.
Party of the reason we developed a fleet of VWs is the insurance... we pay about $3/month for each additional qualifying VW that we add to the fleet.
Our company understands that it's physically impossible to drive them all at the same time... and that chances are we have the only purple/green/silver/black stripped 60s bug on the road.
