MSTATEDOG,
Great pictures and perfect timing.I'm about to do the same repairs to my 74'.The rockers and rear fender mounting needs repair. What gage metal did you use and if using a mig welder, what gage wire to weld with?

Thanks in advance,
WayneK

I used 18 gauge metal, .23 wire with a Millermatic 130XP wire feed welder on gas (wire speed set around 50 and 1 or 2 voltage). I also use an auto darkening helmet that helps greatly. I have some other photos of the inner rocker repair posted under Thing pictures on TheSamba website. I had to replace both pan halves, so I removed those first, repaired the inner rockers, installed the pan halves and now I'm doing the outer rockers. There is a inner support that I had to rebuild also. It is located in the vicinity of the jackpoint but more towards the rear fender. Thanks for the compliments.

I'm just a novice but found that if you go slow and think ahead and think of every step, it will come out pretty good. I'm not buttwelding many joints, mostly flanging and overlapping....and doing some plug or spot welds. The photos show holes I drilled for plug or spot welding. That copper colored gadgit is from Eastwood. It holds your panel in place after you drill a 1/8" hole......works great.

GOODLUCK and don't give up, I had to make the outer panel 3 times before I was satisfied.
