Need 412 2 door engine lid
I need a engine lid for my 74 2 door 412. Metwiz started to repair for me, and it is just swiss cheese, so i need to find a good shape one, preferably in that odd gold color, so my repaint will be easier....anyone have a good one that is not rusted up through?

Hi Guest
Hi Guest, I think most all of the 412's had this problem? Mine is bad and hope it can be rebuilt at the body shop if I get that far along, lol.
The last one I seen with no rust was the one on the gold four door auto on ebay in fla. Must have been garage kept. I think Ray mentioned a few possible sources on Deathbus request for parts? Good Luck! Have you seen the picture of the 412 with the chromed engine lid? Must have just decided to get it chromed after the repair, lol! Bill
p.s. Hey just remembered Paul at www.jbbugs.com or paul@jbbugs.com
bought a shop that use to have some 412's. Maybe he has something?

Don't know why my post came up as guest, but o well.............i will try some of those sources..............there has got to be one out there, or this one is going to cost me a fortune.
I have my front fenders off, and POR'ed under there.looks great. I have totally stock suspension......you just rebuilt your front end, did'nt you?

Re: Hi Guest
It was that darn foam they injected into the lids. It wicks moisture up like a sponge. VW did the same thing on the rear window columns on the Super Beetle, and late model standards, it does the same thing to them. Although I would much rather replace an engine lid than a window pillar!vwbill wrote:Hi Guest, I think most all of the 412's had this problem?
BTW, will a 411 lid work on a 12?
