Hey all

Can the 411/412 rear trailing arms bolt into a bug pan at the pivots?

(Very custom type 1 in mind - think "Baja bug"......... )

I guess anything is possible, but in the type 4, they bolt onto a flat faced cross beam. You would also have to find a location for the coil springs and the shock mounts. The trailing arms of type 4 have two mounting points each...about 15" apart in the inside and about 18" apart at the outside. They are actually a wishbone assembly. I think they will have a hard time fitting. They are quite different than a bug. They are very similar in shape and concept to the vanagon rear trailing wishbones. Ray

Ray, thanks for the reply. I know this is off-topic for this forum, but I needed to know stuff like what you mentioned. The application, purely in the idea stage for now, is a fiberglass buggy. Locating mounting points for everything is pretty much "wide open".

Now, Ray, if you would just get bitten by the "off-roading" bug I would be able to ask you this stuff over in the Off-Road Forum.

Well...if you were building a jacked up off road 411/412....you could be over here instead of over there with the rest of the craw-dads (mud-bugs!).... 8) Ray

A Class 11 411? Oh yeah, that would be cool. :D

I'd like to see that....
