They must smoke good crack rock where he lives. I should email him back and ask do those prices include the trees growing through the cars.Numbers were taken from the NADA guide (see the "Classic Cars" section) and
are quoted in US Dollars.
Year Model Low Average High Notes
1974 412 2dr $1250 $1900 $3200
I don't expect to get the premium for them but now that I know their relative value I would want to get a fair price.

Guy from "rural" Alabama with the 3 - 2 Door Cars
I emailed this guy again and asked him if he had sold the cars since our last conversation (the one where he backed out of our deal) and he said

Just let'm sit. They're not going anywhere. He's had them posted @thesamba now for three weeks. I'm sure with his update today he feels he set the record straight-- at the NADA prices? Looks as though he hasn't seen the post just under his: that 412 wagon in Oregon for $300. That fella has been trying to sell his 412 for the last five months and has almost three times as many page views-- still no luck. It might even have less rust and body rot. Your man in Rural North will grow tired of the emails then....... the silence.
Hang tight, he might call you.

Did anyone notice the rust starting on the blue one (the ready to drive one) and Gold one's engine lids? Starting to rust! At the prices he wants, they will be red dirt before he ever sells them.
Dang my Brown Van is worth $4000 according to NADA, WOW!
Anyone need a 1979 crap colored VW Van? No trees growing through it!!!

I got to thinking over the weekend. My wife's 914 has rust in the floorboards, in the trunk and around the windshield, motors not running, and four flat tires. Well the lowest blue book value on it is $2300.00. Well since I want to get a reasonable amount for it and don't want to get cheated, I think I'll sell it for half that. Yea, that should be fair. $1150. Any takers for $1150. I'll just sit on it untill someone is willing to give me what its worth. After all, it is a classic, you don't see them everyday, and it is a PORSCHE.

By the way, there is no tree growing in, on, around, or through my car, so it should be worth more.
What a moron.

I just sent him an e-mail:

The bait has been set. Let's see if he bites.Hi Elmore,
I was checking out your ad on the samba for the 412's. I've got one myself and am always looking for another for parts or to restore. I don't know why they are the black sheep of the VW family. I'm pleased with mine, even though it is a little quirky and wierd. Anywhom's, I don't know what you are trying to get for them, but I could afford to offer you $200 each for them. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Corey
